Extrapolations are usually inaccurate and misleading. Sometimes they are harmful. For example, when a writer for Mother Jones magazine visits an Iowa hog barn and experiences the stench, but then extrapolates her experience to describe hog carcasses waiting in dumpsters before being butchered for commercial sales, her article is inaccurate, misleading, and harmful.
