Green New Deal Voted Down in Political Play

The widely discussed Green New Deal was brought to the Senate floor where it was rejected with a 57-0 vote.  All Republicans, three Democrats, and one Independent voted against it.  The remaining 43 Democrats simply voted “present” – a rare step sometimes used to avoid intraparty divisions or to make a political point.
