Cancelled Events Due To Coronavirus Outbreak


 

CFTC Agricultural Commodity Futures Conference

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission announced the following changes to previously scheduled public events due the impact of the coronavirus:

  • The CFTC will postpone this year’s Agricultural Commodity Futures Conference scheduled for April 1-2 in Overland Park, Kansas.
  • The CFTC will relocate its open meeting scheduled for March 31 at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City to CFTC headquarters in Washington, D.C.Additional guidance on the March 31 open meeting in Washington, D.C. is forthcoming.

 

Montana Farm Bureau Foundation Youth Speech Contest

The Montana Farm Bureau Foundation (MFBF) is delaying their annual Youth Speech Contest which was to be held during the Montana FFA State Convention and has been postponed.  MFBF is hopeful of rescheduling the contest in conjunction with the FFA Convention when the FFA makes a determination regarding any rescheduling of their state event.

 

Montana State FFA Convention

After careful and substantial consideration regarding the impact that the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has and will continue to make, it has been determined that the best option to protect the health of our students, stakeholders, and community is to suspend the 2020 State FFA Convention and CDE Days in Great Falls until further notice.

Currently, no plans are yet in place on the best way to move forward with holding State Convention and CDE Days at a later date. State administrators will provide information regarding potential solutions as we continue to monitor the situation.

 

UW Extension Suspends In-person Events Through May 15

The University of Wyoming Extension has suspended all in-person events and programming through May 15 due to coronavirus concerns.

This suspension includes all 4-H and Cent$ible Nutrition Program (CNP) in-person events, including 4-H club meetings, in-person CNP classes, spring garden conferences, one-on-one field consultations, and other similar events and activities.

County offices will remain open on a county-by-county basis.  Check county websites or call county offices for hours and for more information.  County extension office contact information is at www.uwyo.edu/uwe/county.

Billings PBR

PBR Unleash the Beast’s Billings Invitational, originally scheduled for April 17 – 19 at the MetraPark in Billings, Montana, was recently cancelled.  PBR is exploring alternatives to broadcast the canceled competition via CBS, RidePass, and RidePass Pro FloRodeo from a venue closed to fans.  Fans who purchased tickets will be able to receive a refund (less any applicable fees) from the original point of purchase for the next 30 days.

 

Ag and Food Policy Summit

Agri-Pulse has postponed the Ag and Food Policy Summit from March 23 to June 22.  We have secured the same space at the National Press Club and will be working with speakers and sponsors to replicate the March 23 event.

 

Public Lands Council 2020 Legislative Conference

Following the temporary closure of the U.S. Capitol to the public, and pursuant to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations regarding large gatherings amid the COVID-19 novel coronavirus outbreak, Public Lands Council (PLC) officials announced the cancellation of the upcoming 2020 Legislative Conference.  The PLC Legislative Conference was originally scheduled for March 30 – 31 in Washington, D.C.  The cancellation also includes the group’s Common Ground Hill briefing and video premiere scheduled for April 1.

 

National Cattlemen’s Beef Association 2020 Legislative Conference

Following the temporary closure of the U.S. Capitol to the public, and pursuant to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations regarding large gatherings amid the COVID-19 novel coronavirus outbreak, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) officials announced the cancellation of the upcoming 2020 Legislative Conference.  There are no plans to reschedule NCBA’s Legislative Conference in 2020, the next event will be held March 16 – 18, 2021.

Participants who booked hotel reservations through the Trump Hotel International should contact the reservations department directly at (202) 695-1100.  The Trump Hotel has agree to release all rooms without penalty at this time.

 

Wyoming FFA State Convention

The Wyoming FFA has canceled the 2020 Wyoming FFA Convention, scheduled to be held April 15-18, in Cheyenne.  LCCC, UW, Casper College and EWC have closed their campuses for the next two to six weeks, including the dates scheduled for the 2020 Wyoming FFA Convention. Wyoming FFA relies on these facilities, staff and students to conduct state FFA events.

There are still a lot of unknown variables right now concerning rescheduling, including when campuses will open, school districts will be cleared for travel, or when this public health crisis will be over.  Wyoming FFA will monitor the situation through March 30 and provide an update at that time.
